Manama, Oct 5 (KUNA) -- Sheikh Tamadur Khalid Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Director of the Public Relations and Petroleum Media Department at the Ministry of Oil, said here on Monday that the topics and recommendations discussed at the 37th meeting of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Petroleum Cooperation Committee reflect a trend toward developing and expanding Gulf energy media, linking it more closely with the priorities of the energy sector and the transformations underway in GCC countries.
In a press statement issued by the Ministry of Oil and received by the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), Sheikh Tamadur stated that Kuwait, in coordination with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, contributed to updating the energy strategy and the energy media strategy, along with their implementation mechanisms, to keep pace with the expanding scope of energy fields and the rapid developments in the sector, thereby enhancing integration between strategic directions and joint Gulf media efforts.
She explained that the work on the two strategies involves circulating them to member states, incorporating amendments proposed by Kuwait and Saudi Arabia for review and feedback, as well as aligning the energy media strategy and its implementation mechanisms with the updated energy strategy to ensure consistency between media messages and initiatives and the priorities of the Gulf energy sector.
She added that developing Gulf energy media extends to capacity building and leveraging modern technologies. In this regard, Kuwait put forward two proposals: the “Energy Spokesperson Program,” aimed at preparing and qualifying specialized Gulf cadres capable of professionally handling media, energy-related issues, and events; and the “GCC Energy Media AI Assistant,” which targets the use of artificial intelligence technologies to support Gulf media efforts, relying on official and accredited sources within a framework that ensures governance, content reliability, and information protection.
Sheikh Tamadur emphasized that developing Gulf energy media requires shifting focus from mere media messaging to building an integrated system encompassing planning, content creation, workforce qualification, and the use of modern technologies, thereby enhancing the GCC countries’ ability to present energy issues and positions in a professional, reliable, and impactful manner.
Sheikh Tamadur Khalid Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah participated in the meeting as part of the Kuwaiti delegation, led by Oil Minister Tariq Al-Roumi, and including Undersecretary of the Ministry of Oil Sheikh Dr. Nimer Fahad Al-Malk Al-Sabah, Director of the Planning and International Relations Department at the Ministry of Oil Omar Al-Wasmi, and Head of the Chairman of the Board’s Office Affairs Team at Kuwait Petroleum Corporation Nasser Al-Namshan.
