Kuwait City, Oct 5 (KUNA) -- The Kuwait Stock Exchange affirmed today its commitment to linking market development with investment in knowledge and expertise through initiatives that provide young people with practical experience and help investors make informed decisions based on research and reliable information.

Nasser Al-Saneaosi, Head of First Marketing and Corporate Communications at the Exchange, said in a statement marking the organization of the "Ring the Bell for Financial Literacy" event, in which the University of Kuwait team, winner of first place in the fifth edition of the challenge, participated, that the development of the capital market is linked to participants’ ability to understand information, evaluate opportunities, and assess risks.

Al-Saneaosi added that the strategic participation and official sponsorship of the Kuwait Research Challenge provide students with an opportunity to apply their knowledge and adhere to professional practice standards and ethics. He emphasized the Exchange’s commitment to involving the next generation in the future of the country’s financial and investment sectors.

He clarified that this cooperation reflects the Exchange’s commitment to building educational and professional partnerships that contribute to developing human capital and enhancing the readiness of young talents to work in the financial and investment sectors.

The statement quoted Dr. Sulaiman Al-Badr, the academic advisor for the winning team from the University of Kuwait, stating that the university is keen to empower students to read financial statements, understand and evaluate company performance, noting that the research challenge gives them the opportunity to apply this knowledge to a listed company.

Al-Badr said, “The challenge is an opportunity to test their ability to prepare a comprehensive analysis and present its results to specialists, thereby strengthening the link between what they learn at university and the requirements of working in the investment sector. This experience contributes to developing students’ skills in research, analysis, and teamwork, and gives them greater confidence in presenting and discussing their ideas.”

The statement also quoted Jean-Paul Servais, Chairman of the Board of the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO), affirming that investor protection remains at the core of IOSCO’s mandate. With the global Investor Week reaching its tenth edition, the campaign continues to address the most important issues for individual investors.

Servais added that this year’s themes reflect investors’ need for flexibility amid changing market conditions, verifying the credibility of investment information encountered online, and remaining vigilant against increasingly complex fraud schemes.

The tenth edition of Global Investor Week will take place from October 5 to 11 under the theme “Invest in Your Future, Protect It Today.” Led by IOSCO, the campaign aims to enhance investor education and protection through the participation of regulatory authorities, financial and academic institutions, and other stakeholders worldwide.

The 2025 edition saw the participation of 137 entities from 118 countries and markets, reflecting the broadening of international cooperation in this field. This year’s campaign focuses on three main pillars: investor resilience, digital deception, and fraud prevention, alongside two complementary educational pillars covering investment basics and young investors and the next generation.
