Education Minister visits students who suffered asphyxiation incidents to check on their well-being

Kuwait City, 5 Oct (KUNA) — Kuwait’s Minister of Education, Sayyid Jalal Al-Tabtaba’i, visited on Monday the female students who had suffered from asphyxiation incidents, to check on their well-being and pray to God for their swift recovery, complete health, and safety, and to protect all students from harm.
In a press statement issued during the visit, the minister emphasized that the health and safety of students are the top priorities of the Ministry of Education. He stressed the ministry’s continued monitoring of the students’ health, regular follow-ups, and coordination with relevant authorities to ensure they receive the necessary care.
The minister ordered the suspension of the school’s administration for three months pending investigation, and appointed a new school management team to take charge of the school and oversee operations, ensuring a stable school environment and continuity of the educational process.
The Ministry of Education clarified that, based on preliminary investigations confirming the involvement of several female students in the incident, appropriate educational and disciplinary measures have been taken against them in accordance with the Comprehensive Regulatory Bylaws for Education under the Ministry. The confirmed behaviors were classified as serious behavioral violations.
It reaffirmed that the investigation into the incident is ongoing to identify all causes and circumstances and to determine responsibilities accurately. It stressed that necessary measures will be taken against anyone found responsible or negligent, in line with prevailing regulations and the final findings of the investigation.
The ministry emphasized that these measures are aimed at safeguarding the security and well-being of students, maintaining a stable school environment, and reinforcing principles of discipline and accountability. It reiterated that there will be no leniency toward any behavior that undermines the security of the school community or the safety of its members.
The Ministry of Education expressed its deepest gratitude and appreciation to the Ministry of Health, its officials, and the medical teams that handled the cases, commending their swift response and the medical care and follow-up provided to the students since the incident, which demonstrated the coordinated efforts of state institutions and their commitment to the health and safety of their citizens.
It renewed its assurance that the security and safety of students and educational and administrative staff are fundamental responsibilities that allow no compromise. The ministry will continue to follow up on the incident until all investigations and procedures are completed and appropriate decisions are taken to ensure the safety of students, enhance discipline, and provide a safe and stable learning environment for all.
Earlier, the Ministry of Education announced that several female students at one of the girls’ secondary schools had suffered from asphyxiation incidents, confirming that all cases were stable and that relevant authorities were monitoring the students’ health conditions on a daily basis in coordination with concerned entities and taking necessary measures.
