Kuwait City, 5 Oct (KUNA) -- The Deputy General Manager of the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Emad Al-Zaid, stressed today the importance of enhancing economic, trade, and investment cooperation between Kuwait and the Italian Republic, and of broadening the horizons of partnership between the business communities of the two countries.
This came during Al-Zaid’s meeting with Alvise Biave, president of the Italian association AssoLombarda, and his accompanying delegation, in the presence of Lorenzo Morini, the Italian Ambassador to Kuwait, to discuss ways to strengthen economic and trade ties and to review opportunities for establishing partnerships between Kuwaiti and Italian companies.
Al-Zaid said the Chamber is ready to leverage its expertise and resources to facilitate communication between companies in both countries, thereby helping to explore cooperation and partnership opportunities and to strengthen relations between the private sectors of Kuwait and Italy. He added that the Chamber is prepared to host a business meeting and an exhibition featuring Italian companies and their Kuwaiti counterparts at its headquarters, coinciding with the upcoming visit, to enable direct dialogue and the exploration of available trade and investment opportunities. He affirmed the readiness to disseminate and publicize Italian investment and trade opportunities to Kuwaiti companies, contributing to increased bilateral trade and encouraging mutual investments between the two countries.
The meeting addressed several promising sectors for cooperation between the two sides, foremost among them the manufacturing of machinery and equipment, and the application of artificial intelligence in the health and pharmaceutical sectors, alongside training and knowledge exchange in the field of small and medium-sized enterprises.
During the meeting, the Italian side provided an overview of AssoLombarda, one of the largest entities representing the private sector in Italy, particularly in the regions of Milan, Monza and Brianza, Lodi, and Pavia. The association comprises more than 7,100 companies, ranging from small and medium-sized enterprises to multinational corporations, and employs approximately 443,000 people.
It is worth noting that Italy is among Kuwait’s most important trading partners, ranking eighth among countries exporting to the Kuwaiti market, thereby providing a solid foundation for expanding cooperation areas between the private sectors of the two countries. (End)
