Jeddah, Oct 5 (KUNA) -- Saudi Arabia national football team coach Giorgos Donis affirmed on Monday that the fighting spirit of his players will be one of his team’s key weapons against the United Arab Emirates in the final of the 27th Gulf Cup of Arab Nations on Tuesday.
Donis said at the pre-match press conference that the national team faced difficulties during the tournament, including absences, the pressure of matches, and weather conditions, noting that the semi-final clash with Qatar required considerable effort due to the opponent’s reliance on a deep defensive setup.
He clarified that the squad possesses players capable of performing both defensive and attacking duties in an organized manner, adding that the technical staff focused on set pieces on both ends of the pitch and on creating chances inside the penalty area.
Donis praised the performances of several players during the tournament, particularly in the attacking line, and expressed hope that they would receive more playing time with their clubs ahead of the 2027 Asian Cup.
He stressed that the players are giving their all to secure victory and that team cohesion represents a strength in the final match. (End) K.N.S./T.A.B.
