Kuwait City, 5 October (KUNA) – The NATO Regional Cooperation Centre (NRCC) and the Istanbul Cooperation Initiative (ICI) launched on Monday a training course titled “Crisis Management and Disaster Response,” in collaboration with the Bulgarian Centre for Crisis Management and Disaster Response. The course is attended by 30 participants from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.

Speaking to KUNA, NRCC Director Emad Al-Kandari said the course aims to enhance participants’ capacities and skills in crisis management and disaster response by familiarizing them with the various stages of handling such events, starting from planning and preparedness, establishing risk mitigation mechanisms, achieving optimal response during crises, and moving to the recovery phase in both civilian and military sectors.

Al-Kandari added that the training program, which runs until the end of the week, combines interactive lectures, discussions, and the exchange of lessons learned, contributing to performance improvement, leveraging successful experiences, and transforming acquired expertise into practical practices and guidelines that can be utilized in dealing with crises and disasters.

He noted that the centre continues to implement its training programs and activities according to pre-established plans, while updating several courses in line with priorities and topics that reflect current developments and emerging issues.

Al-Kandari emphasized that hosting such courses at the centre’s headquarters in Kuwait reflects the commitment of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the NATO Regional Cooperation Centre, and the Istanbul Cooperation Initiative to supporting capacity-building, enhancing the exchange of expertise among GCC countries, and developing national competencies across various fields, thereby contributing to strengthening regional cooperation and achieving common objectives.
