Joint Forces Command of the Coalition: Operations Continue to Support Legitimacy in Yemen and End Houthi Coup

Riyadh, 4 October (KUNA) -- The Coalition Support for Legitimacy forces in Yemen reaffirmed on Sunday that the joint command of the coalition forces continues to provide full operational support to the Yemeni armed forces, standing with the legitimate Yemeni government and the Yemeni people to end the coup and restore the state and its national institutions to build Yemen’s future.

In a press statement, Brigadier General Turki Al-Maliki, official spokesperson for the Coalition Support for Legitimacy in Yemen, said that the repeated attacks and practices carried out by the Houthi terrorist militia against the Yemeni people—including internal blockade, forced displacement, starvation, looting of resources and diverting them to what it calls the “war effort,” as well as insulting tribal elders and members, tearing apart the social fabric, terrorizing women, and recruiting children for its criminal project—constitute blatant violations that have caused long-standing suffering for Yemenis.

He added that the Houthi militia’s terrorist attacks against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, its attempts to target the holy city of Mecca and the city of the Prophet (Medina), the deliberate targeting of civilians and civilian infrastructure in several Saudi cities, as well as attempts to target Saudi vessels in the southern Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandab Strait, necessitate the continuation of necessary measures to deter its hostile actions, thereby safeguarding the Kingdom’s security and sovereignty, as well as regional and international security.

He affirmed the Kingdom’s inherent right to defend its sovereignty and protect its security, and to take the necessary operational measures to deter the militia and halt its grave violations, in line with its national responsibility toward the Two Holy Mosques, its citizens, its national assets, and residents on its territory.

Brigadier General Al-Maliki stressed Saudi Arabia’s continued support for Yemen and its people until the state and its institutions are restored, the Houthi terrorist militia is eliminated, and its threat to freedom of maritime navigation in the southern Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandab Strait is ended, noting that such a threat undermines regional and international security, jeopardizes freedom of navigation and international trade, strikes at the lifeline of the global economy, and endangers regional and international security as well as the national interests of all countries.
