US President: Formation of 'Superintelligence Force' to Maintain American Leadership in AI

Washington, April 10 (KUNA) -- U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Sunday the formation of what he called the “Superintelligence Force,” stating that its primary mission would be to preserve American leadership in the field of artificial intelligence. In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump said the force would coordinate federal government efforts to ensure the United States maintains its global leadership in superintelligence, thereby “protecting the interests of all Americans and improving their lives.” He added that the Superintelligence Force would coordinate the federal government’s interactions with consumers, public interest groups, religious organizations, critical infrastructure service providers, and AI companies. He clarified that the new body would be managed by U.S. Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe, Federal Trade Commission Commissioner Andrew Ferguson, and others, including Emile Michael, Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering, and Scott Cooper, Director of the Office of Personnel Management. Trump noted that the task force would report to him and to White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles. The establishment of the Superintelligence Force comes amid growing concerns about the risks of artificial intelligence and calls from researchers and lawmakers from both parties to take action to address its future challenges. Last month, President Trump downplayed claims about the dangers of AI, dismissing them as part of a “malicious conspiracy” against a sector in which the United States maintains global leadership.
