Aden, April 4 (KUNA) -- The Yemeni Armed Forces announced on Sunday the commencement of the “Liberation Battle,” aimed at restoring state institutions, ending the Houthi coup, alleviating the suffering of the people, and reestablishing a state governed by order, constitution, and law.

In a statement, Brigadier General Majid Al-Nazili, official spokesperson for the Armed Forces, said the decisive battle aims to reclaim all state territories, fully assert national sovereignty, and eliminate all manifestations of the blatant coup in areas forcibly controlled by the Houthi militia, whose repercussions have extended beyond Yemen’s borders to its regional and international surroundings.

He added that this national battle represents the true bridge to reintegrating beloved Yemen into its Arab environment and its authentic strategic depth among its brotherly nations. He reaffirmed the inherent right of the state and its citizens to fully restore their rights and live with dignity, while strictly committing to protecting civilian lives and sparing them from harm in all regions and governorates.

Al-Nazili renewed his call for all those misled and fighting within the ranks of the Houthi militia to lay down their arms immediately and return promptly and safely to their homes, to save their lives and avoid a devastating inferno that serves only destructive agendas.

He praised the steadfast and fraternal positions of the brothers in the coalition supporting legitimacy, which serve Yemen’s interests and its people. He emphasized that the Armed Forces are advancing steadily, with unwavering resolve and combat determination, toward the strongholds of the rebellious Houthi terrorists until victory is achieved.

Earlier on Sunday, Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council Chairman Rashad Al-Alimi announced the start of military operations to reclaim the remaining territories of the republic and extend state authority over the entire national territory, after diplomatic efforts to de-escalate tensions had been exhausted.
