Egyptian Foreign Minister: Egypt Has No Stake in Internal Affairs of Ethiopia

Cairo, Oct 3 (KUNA) – Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty affirmed on Saturday that “Egypt has no involvement in what is happening inside Ethiopia,” stressing that the Egyptian state does not interfere in the internal affairs of other countries. In remarks relayed by Middle East News Agency, Minister Abdelatty said that statements issued by the Ethiopian side represent an attempt to divert attention from developments within Ethiopia, noting that their primary objective is to escape the internal crises facing the country. He clarified that Egypt “has absolutely no involvement in what is happening inside Ethiopia,” considering the crises and internal problems Ethiopia is experiencing to be matters of an ethnic and racial nature that concern only the Ethiopian state. Minister Abdelatty reiterated, “We have no role, do not comment, and do not interfere in the internal affairs of states.” He added that statements emanating from Ethiopia constitute “an overt attempt to divert attention from internal issues there or to blame external parties for these crises,” emphasizing that “this is unacceptable and incorrect, and will not lead to the desired stability.” He stressed the need for each side to focus on its own internal situation, saying, “Certainly, just as we here in Egypt do not interfere in the internal affairs of Ethiopia or any other country.” (End) A.F.F. / M.M.J.
