Minister of Youth and Sports: Committed to Supporting Kuwaiti Youth in Various Sports and Professional Fields

Kuwait City, 3 Oct (KUNA) — State Minister for Youth and Sports Affairs, Dr. Tariq Al-Jalahma, reaffirmed on Saturday the General Authority for Youth and Sports’ commitment to continuing its support for Kuwaiti youth across various sports and professional fields, and to providing an appropriate environment for honing their skills and motivating them to achieve further successes that reflect Kuwait’s bright image at international forums.

This statement came in a press statement by Minister Al-Jalahma after he honored a group of Kuwaiti youth excelling in different sports and photography disciplines, who have raised Kuwait’s name at international and regional events. The ceremony was held at the General Authority for Youth and Sports headquarters, attended by several of their parents and supervisors.

Minister Al-Jalahma emphasized during the honoring of members of the Al-Tamuh Club for People with Intellectual Disabilities that the achievements of our sons and daughters with disabilities in the sports arena are a source of pride and honor for Kuwait, as they embody true willpower and determination. He stressed that their successes reflect Kuwait’s vibrant humanitarian and sports image before the world.

The honors included players from the Al-Tamuh Club for People with Intellectual Disabilities who participated in the 10th Special Olympics Regional Games for the Middle East and North Africa 2026, held in Cairo last September, where the club won six medals: three gold, one silver, and two bronze in equestrian and weightlifting events.

The ceremony also honored champion Dana Abu Al-Qasim, who secured first place in the 25-to-29 age category during the 2026–2027 season at the Hyrox Athens competition held last September. Hyrox is a sport combining running with resistance and functional strength exercises. Additionally, champion Ghanem Khan was honored for winning first place and the gold medal during his outstanding participation in the 2026 Asian Functional Fitness Championship held in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan, last August.

The Al-Ayun Girls Club was also honored after winning the title of the third edition of the 2026 Fatima Bint Mubarak Academy Women’s Basketball Cup in Abu Dhabi.

In the field of photography, Ali Al-Obaidli was honored for winning the Grand Prize in the ZWO Astronomer of the Year competition, organized by the Royal Observatory in Greenwich, London, for his image titled “The Quiet Predator.”
