Pakistan Strongly Protests Killing of Two Civilians by Indian Border Force

Islamabad, March 10 (KUNA) -- The Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the Indian Chargé d’Affaires in Islamabad today, Saturday, to lodge a strong protest over the killing of two Pakistani civilians by Indian Border Security Force personnel in the Bedian sector along the international border. In a press statement, the ministry said that the Indian Border Security Force had used lethal force without provocation against unarmed civilians, describing the use of force as “wholly unjustified and grossly disproportionate,” which resulted in the deaths of two individuals. It further stated that Pakistan firmly rejects any attempt to label the deceased as “infiltrators,” emphasizing that the incident constitutes a serious violation of fundamental human rights, including the right to life, and raises serious concerns about the protection of civilian lives under international law. The ministry called on the Indian side to conduct an immediate, transparent, and credible investigation into the incident, take appropriate disciplinary and legal action against those responsible, and formally inform the Pakistani government of the investigation’s findings and the measures taken. It also urged India to respect fundamental human rights and international law, strictly adhere to bilateral arrangements and established border procedures, exercise maximum restraint in handling such cases, and take effective measures to prevent recurrence.
