Ministry of Electricity Chairs the 68th Meeting of the Advisory and Regulatory Committee for Gulf Interconnection

Kuwait City, 3 Oct (KUNA) -- The Advisory and Organizational Committee for the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Power Interconnection held its 68th meeting in Kuwait, chaired by Eng. Faisal Al-Sameet, Acting Assistant Undersecretary for Power Transmission Networks at the Kuwaiti Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy.

In a press statement issued on Saturday, the ministry said the committee discussed several agenda items, foremost among them a review of the performance and activities report of the GCC power interconnection and the support provided to the power grids. It noted that this contributes to enhancing the reliability and stability of the GCC power system and supporting integration among the member states’ networks.

The statement added that the meeting reviewed operational events experienced by the interconnection system and the measures taken to ensure service continuity during the summer period and the exceptional circumstances facing the region, alongside discussions on various technical and operational matters related to power interconnection works among the GCC states.

The statement affirmed that the meeting comes within the framework of continuing coordination and cooperation among GCC member states in the electricity sector, enhancing the readiness and operational efficiency of the GCC power interconnection system, thereby supporting the security and sustainability of electricity supply in the GCC states.
