Deputy Interior Minister Discusses Strengthening Security Cooperation and Sharing Expertise with Italian Director General of Public Security

Kuwait City, 3 Oct (KUNA) -- The Deputy Minister of Interior, Major General Abdulwahab Al-Wahhab, held talks with the Director-General of the Italian State Police, Prefect Pietro Beccari, to explore ways to enhance security cooperation and exchange expertise between the two countries, particularly in combating organized crime, illicit drug trafficking, cybercrime, financial and economic crimes, and border security.
The Ministry of Interior said in a press statement on Saturday that the meeting took place in Rome during Al-Wahhab’s official visit to Italy, with Kuwait’s Ambassador to Italy, Nasser Al-Qahtani, in attendance.
The statement added that Al-Wahhab conveyed greetings from the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Sheikh Fahad Youssef Al-Saud Al-Sabah, emphasizing his commitment to continuing the development of security cooperation ties between the two countries, expanding areas of coordination, and exchanging expertise and information to serve their shared interests.
The meeting also covered exchanging expertise in training and capacity building, and leveraging modern technologies and solutions to support security operations, as well as developing mechanisms for information exchange among competent authorities and enhancing preventive and proactive capabilities to confront emerging criminal patterns.
It noted that both sides discussed the use of modern technologies in monitoring, analysis, and detection to boost the efficiency of security operations and address security challenges.
The statement pointed out that Al-Wahhab also met with several senior officials at the Italian Ministry of the Interior, discussing various issues of mutual interest and ways to strengthen cooperation and expertise exchange between the two sides.
Furthermore, Al-Wahhab and members of the accompanying delegation toured several departments under the Italian Ministry of the Interior, where they reviewed their operational nature, coordination mechanisms among competent authorities, and key systems and technologies used to support security missions and enhance performance.
