Kuwait City, 2 Feb (KUNA) -- The Public Authority for Civil Aviation (PACA) said on Friday that rumors regarding the resumption of transit operations at Kuwait International Airport are “inaccurate,” reaffirming that “the decision to suspend transit operations remains in effect until further notice.”

PACA’s official spokesperson, Abdullah Al-Rajhi, told the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that the authority “has not coordinated with Jazeera Airways or any other airlines regarding the resumption or opening of transit operations.” He added that “administrative measures have been taken against the airline for initiating and announcing transit flights without obtaining prior approval from the authority.”

He clarified that the decisions and directives issued to halt transit operations “remain in effect since the beginning of the malicious attacks in the region,” emphasizing that these measures were taken in light of the authority’s commitment to maintaining the highest standards of passenger, aircraft, and airport safety amid the current events, developments, and security conditions in the region.

Al-Rajhi noted that “the administrative actions taken against Jazeera Airways were in accordance with applicable laws and regulations, due to its violation of the decisions, directives, and controls governing transit operations.” He stated that any change to the decision to suspend transit operations or to allow their resumption will be officially announced by the authority through approved channels.

He added that all of the authority’s decisions and actions are driven by its regulatory responsibilities and its commitment to the safety and security of travelers and civil aviation, in line with the requirements of the current regional security situation. (End) A.A.M. / T.A.B.
