Qatari Prime Minister Discusses Issues of Common Interest with Japanese Counterpart in Tokyo

Doha, February 10 (KUNA) -- Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, held talks in Tokyo today with Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, discussing a number of regional and international issues of mutual concern. The Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement that the two sides also reviewed the cooperative relations between their countries and ways to support and strengthen them, particularly in the fields of economy, energy security, technology, innovation, trade, investment, and advanced industries. The statement added that both sides reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing cooperation across various fields and expressed their satisfaction with the development of the strategic partnership between Qatar and Japan. They also praised the success of the current Asian Games (Aichi-Nagoya 2026) held in Japan and expressed their anticipation for bilateral cooperation in Qatar’s hosting of the next edition. In a separate statement, the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman met in Tokyo with Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi, during which they reviewed the cooperative relations between the two countries and ways to support and strengthen them, as well as the latest regional developments, particularly the evolution of the war in the region and efforts aimed at de-escalation and ensuring freedom of navigation.
