Riyadh, Jan 10 (KUNA) -- The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jassem Al-Bedaiwi, today on Thursday strongly condemned the terrorist drone attack carried out by the terrorist Houthi militia, which targeted an electricity distribution station in Medina, Saudi Arabia, which provides services to the Prophet’s Mosque and civilian landmarks in the city.
In a statement, Al-Bedaiwi said that this reprehensible Houthi aggression crossed all red lines and constituted a blatant provocation of the feelings of Muslims worldwide, representing a serious escalation in the violation of the sanctity of Islamic holy sites. It revealed an adversarial approach that disregards religious and human values, as well as international laws and norms, particularly given the repeated attempts to target the Two Holy Mosques and the surrounding areas.
He affirmed the full and steadfast support of the GCC member states for Saudi Arabia, expressing their complete solidarity in confronting any threats to its security, stability, sovereignty, and holy sites. He also highlighted their backing for all measures taken by the Kingdom to protect its territory, citizens, residents, and guests of God.
He stressed that the security of Saudi Arabia and its holy sites is an inseparable part of the security of all GCC member states, and that any threat to them constitutes a threat to the security of all Gulf Cooperation Council countries. (End)
