Istanbul, January 1 (KUNA) -- The Turkish Ministry of Defense said on Thursday that incursions by Israeli-occupation extremist groups into Al-Aqsa Mosque are fueling tensions in the region, calling on the international community to take deterrent measures against attacks that violate international law. The ministry’s spokesperson, Zeki Akturk, stressed at a press conference in Kayseri province in central Turkey Turkey’s rejection of extremist groups’ incursions into Al-Aqsa Mosque, noting that violations and provocations targeting holy sites fuel regional tensions and undermine peace and stability efforts. Akturk added that the Israeli occupation has caused the deaths of 74,000 Palestinians, including innocent infants, children, and women, while depriving the rest of their right to live with dignity, as attacks and settlers’ land seizures in the West Bank continue at their most severe levels. He emphasized the importance of “the global conscience moving to end what is happening in Palestine,” reiterating the call for the international community to take deterrent measures against Israeli occupation attacks that violate international law and international humanitarian law. Earlier today, around 800 settlers stormed Al-Aqsa Mosque under the guard of occupation police. (End) T.A. / M.A.A.
