Jeddah, 30 September (KUNA) -- Bahrain national football team coach Dragan Talajic said on Wednesday that he bears responsibility for the 5-2 defeat to Yemen in the final group-stage match of the 27th Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Arab Homeland Cup, describing what happened during the game as “unbelievable.”

At the post-match press conference, Talajic said he accepted responsibility for the result, noting that Bahrain did not perform at the level he had hoped for as the team concluded its tournament campaign. He added that the squad faced difficult circumstances throughout the competition and that its results fell short of expectations, stressing the need to review what happened and correct mistakes in the coming period.

For his part, Yemen national team coach Nour Eddine Ould Ali emphasized the significance of his team’s convincing 5-2 victory over Bahrain in the final group-stage match of the 27th GCC Arab Homeland Cup, calling the win a major morale booster for the players.

Speaking at the post-match press conference, Ould Ali said the victory provided a much-needed confidence boost for Yemen following their results in the previous two matches, and he stressed the importance of learning from the tournament and building on it in the future. He noted that the team entered the match determined to deliver a performance that would satisfy Yemeni fans and end their campaign on a positive note after missing out on a spot in the semi-finals.

Yemen concluded its group-stage participation with a comprehensive 5-2 win over Bahrain, securing its first three points of the tournament. (End) KH N Sh / M A H A
