Cairo, Sept 30 (KUNA) -- Egypt and Eritrea reaffirmed on Wednesday their commitment to continuing consultations and coordination on issues of mutual interest, in support of regional security and stability. The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a press release that this came during a meeting between Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and Hagos Gbrehiwet, economic advisor to the Eritrean president. The statement said the meeting stressed the importance of advancing bilateral cooperation ties in line with directives from the political leadership of both countries. Abdelatty was quoted as emphasizing Egypt’s interest in boosting economic cooperation, trade, and investment between the two countries, as well as supporting the participation of Egyptian companies and the private sector in priority projects in the Eritrean market, particularly in the fields of energy, industry, infrastructure, trade, fisheries, and pharmaceuticals. He added that Egypt is ready to provide all forms of technical support and training in areas needed by Eritrea, within the framework of the distinguished relations between the two countries. Abdelatty also outlined preparations underway for Egypt to host the “Alamein Africa Forum,” scheduled to take place from October 2 to 4 next year, which will provide a platform to enhance economic and investment partnerships and connect governments, business communities, and financial institutions across the African continent.
