Head of Kuwait Scout Association: Next Sunday's Assembly Meeting Aims to Enhance Sustainability of Scouting Work
Kuwait City, Sept 30 (KUNA) – Dr. Abdullah Al-Tariji, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Kuwait Scout Association, affirmed that the conference “Scouting Movement Between Volunteering and Economic Activity,” organized by the association under the patronage of Minister of Education Sayed Jalal Al-Tabatabai, scheduled for next Sunday, represents an important platform for discussing the future of scouting work, developing its resources, enhancing its sustainability, and preserving its volunteer, educational, and humanitarian mission.
In a statement to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) on Wednesday, Al-Tariji said that organizing the conference, which runs until October 7, comes at a stage that requires developing the concept of scouting work and leveraging its human and organizational capacities to serve society and support sustainable development efforts.
He noted that the participation of approximately 250 scouting leaders representing 36 countries reflects the standing that Kuwait enjoys within the Arab and international scouting movements.
Al-Tariji emphasized that the scouting movement has been founded since its inception on the values of giving, volunteering, and community service, which will remain a fixed foundation that cannot be abandoned. He pointed out that rapid economic and social developments necessitate the search for modern tools and methods that contribute to enhancing the sustainability of scouting work, especially in light of the expanding responsibilities of scouting institutions and the growing demands of youth and community programs, activities, and projects.
Al-Tariji explained that the conference examines the relationship between volunteer work and economic sustainability, and discusses experiences and practices that scouting associations and bodies can benefit from in developing their resources and managing their projects professionally. He stressed the importance of economic activity serving as a supporter of the scouting mission rather than a substitute for it.
He added that the conference constitutes an important opportunity for exchanging experiences and practices among participants from various countries, and for learning about successful experiences in the fields of managing scouting institutions, resource development, youth empowerment, entrepreneurship, volunteer work, and community partnerships, thereby opening new horizons for the scouting movement in the Arab region.
Al-Tariji commended the patronage of the Minister of Education for the conference, clarifying that it reflects the support provided by the State of Kuwait to youth and scouting work, and underscores the importance of the role played by the scouting movement in developing young people’s personalities, enhancing their sense of responsibility, belonging, teamwork, and community service.
He affirmed that Kuwait has been and remains a supporter of the Arab and international scouting movements, noting that the Kuwait Scout Association will continue to play its role in enhancing cooperation and communication among scouting associations and bodies, and supporting initiatives that serve youth and contribute to the development of volunteer and institutional work.
