Egypt and Qatar Discuss Developments in the Crisis with Iran

Cairo, September 30 (KUNA) -- Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Dr. Badr Abdelatty held a telephone conversation with the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, to discuss developments in the crisis with Iran and the recent escalation in the region. The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement on Wednesday that Abdelatty emphasized during the call the importance of coordinating efforts and unifying action to de-escalate tensions, prevent the conflict from widening, and encourage support for political and diplomatic tracks to resolve the current crisis, thereby contributing to enhanced regional security and stability. Abdelatty outlined Egypt’s vision regarding these crises, including developments in Yemen, Iran, and the Red Sea region, stressing the necessity of safeguarding freedom of maritime navigation in the Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandab Strait, and rejecting the use of straits and waterways as tools for pressure or bargaining in these crises.
