Paris, September 29 (KUNA) -- French President Emmanuel Macron affirmed on Tuesday that his visit to Spain aims to achieve tangible progress for both countries. Writing on his X account ahead of the visit, Macron said, “I am arriving in Spain to strengthen our European sovereignty and our competitiveness agenda, and to invest in our future through a European budget that meets the challenges, is backed by new own resources, and ensures that European savings are invested within Europe.” He added that the visit also aims to “protect our democracies and our children from the excesses of social media through digital regulation, support our companies and jobs, and move forward together in the fields of space, aviation, and defense, while improving connectivity between our regions through transport and low-carbon energy.” Macron noted that “around ten agreements and declarations will be signed, covering areas such as the digital sector, support for the Common Agricultural Policy, fisheries, combating disinformation, industry, and more.” He concluded, “For France and Spain, the Pyrenees do not form a barrier that separates us, but rather a bridge that connects us. Therefore, we must turn this geographical proximity into strength and make our cooperation a driving force for a stronger, more sovereign, and more united Europe.” (End) M.B. / R.J.
