Aden, Sept 29 (KUNA) -- Sultan al-Arada, a member of Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council, today Tuesday praised Kuwait’s support for educational and developmental projects in Yemen, particularly in Marib Governorate.

Al-Arada, who also serves as the governor of Marib, made the remarks during the opening of the Information Technology and Computer Science College building at the new campus of Saba Region University, and the laying of the cornerstone for the College of Administrative and Financial Sciences. The projects were supported equally, with each providing 50 percent of the funding, by the Kuwait-based Islamic World Charity Organization and the local authority in Marib Governorate.

He expressed his gratitude to Kuwait, its Amir, government, and people, as well as to the Islamic World Charity Organization, for their support and contribution to the construction of the building. He noted that such support is not unusual for Kuwait, which has long been a pioneer in backing projects across all sectors, adding, “They deserve all our appreciation.”

He emphasized that the opening of the Information Technology and Computer Science College and the laying of the cornerstone for the College of Administrative and Financial Sciences take place under exceptional circumstances, underscoring that overcoming challenges requires clinging to science and knowledge, and investing in human capital. He stressed that education is the path to overcoming obstacles, rescuing generations from ignorance, and building both individuals and the state, while looking toward the future.

Al-Arada pointed out that Saba Region University, which began its journey in 2017, has enrolled more than 20,000 students, with its graduates exceeding 6,000.

For his part, Dr. Mohammed Al-Qadasi, President of Saba Region University, said that the opening of the Information Technology and Computer Science College marks an important milestone in the university’s history, as it is the first college to open in the new campus, coinciding with the start of classes this week.

He clarified that laying the cornerstone represents a new step toward completing the university’s projects, with construction work to begin immediately. He also commended Kuwaiti support for financing the building and the role of the Yemeni “Human Access” Association in implementing the project and overseeing construction works.

The Information Technology and Computer Science College building comprises a main hall, 14 classrooms, seven laboratories, and several administrative offices. (End) S.N.S./R.J.
