US Treasury Secretary Urges Lebanese Government to Disrupt Financial Networks of Iran and Hezbollah

Washington, September 28 (KUNA) – U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent urged the Lebanese government on Monday to take “proactive steps” to disrupt the financial networks of Iran and Hezbollah. This came during a meeting held by Bessent with Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam and Finance Minister Yassin Jaber in the U.S. capital, Washington. The U.S. Treasury said in a statement that Bessent emphasized the importance of moving forward with fundamental reforms in Lebanon’s financial sector to restore “confidence” in the country’s banking system.
