Baghdad, September 28 (KUNA) -- The Iraqi Presidency Councils stated on Monday that the decision on peace and war in Iraq must rest with the state, and that weapons must be kept within the framework of constitutional and legal institutions, while addressing the issue of weapons outside state authority in accordance with constitutional and legal frameworks and within timelines set by the government. This was stated during a meeting held at the Baghdad Palace, bringing together the four heads of the Iraqi Presidency Councils: President Nizar al-Amidi, Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi, Speaker of the Council of Representatives Heibat al-Halbousi, and Chief Justice of the Supreme Judicial Council Faiz Zidan.

The Presidency Council issued a statement noting that the meeting also discussed preparations for commemorating the day of the withdrawal of international coalition forces, which is regarded as a day of sovereignty and a national occasion that reinforces the presence of the state and its institutions. It emphasized that the coming phase will see Iraq’s relations with the international community expand into broader horizons of economic, commercial, and cultural cooperation.

Regarding regional developments, the Presidency Councils reiterated Iraq’s position calling for an end to tensions, de-escalation of crises, prioritization of dialogue and diplomacy, and the adoption of peaceful means to resolve differences among various parties. (End) A.H.H./M.M.J.
