Kuwait's Ambassador in Bern: Crown Prince's Visit to Switzerland Marks Important Milestone in Bilateral Relations

From Iman Al-Kharji, Geneva – September 28 (KUNA) – Kuwait’s Ambassador to Switzerland, Youssef Abdul Samad, affirmed today that the visit of His Highness the Crown Prince, Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, to Switzerland, and his scheduled meeting with Swiss President Guy Parmelin, represent an important milestone in the trajectory of bilateral relations and reflect the shared commitment to further strengthening dialogue, cooperation, and coordination between the two countries, particularly on issues of mutual interest.

In a statement to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), Ambassador Abdul Samad noted that the Crown Prince’s visit to Switzerland holds special significance given the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Kuwait and Switzerland, relations that have been characterized over the decades by friendship, cooperation, and regular political dialogue.

He added that the visit at this stage reflects Kuwait’s determination, alongside Switzerland, to build on past achievements and advance Kuwaiti-Swiss relations toward broader horizons of cooperation and partnership, serving the common interests of the two countries and their friendly peoples.

The ambassador clarified that the visit of Swiss President Guy Parmelin to Kuwait last February, and his meetings with His Highness the Amir of Kuwait, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and His Highness the Crown Prince, Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, likewise demonstrated the mutual high-level interest in these relations.

He pointed out that Kuwaiti-Swiss relations have witnessed notable development over the years, expanding to include multiple fields such as peace and security, sustainable development, economy, investment, and cultural cooperation.

Ambassador Abdul Samad further emphasized that Kuwait and Switzerland share many common ground, foremost among them a commitment to dialogue, diplomacy, and mediation as means of settling disputes, as well as a dedication to supporting peace, stability, and international cooperation.
