Moscow, September 28 (KUNA) -- The Russian Microelectronics 2026 Forum kicked off today, Monday, in the Sirius federal territory in southern Russia, with the participation of government officials, representatives of industrial and scientific institutions, and specialized companies to discuss the development of the microelectronics industry and enhance local technological capabilities.
The Russian news agency RIA Novosti reported that First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov participated in the forum’s plenary session held today, attended by several Russian officials. Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin addressed participants via video link.
In his speech, Mishustin said that Russia’s production of computers, electronic, and optical products exceeded four trillion rubles (approximately $4.47 billion) in 2025, marking an increase of nearly 20 percent compared to 2024, and noted that this indicator continued to grow during the current year. He added that Russia is working to establish new factories for producing photovoltaic converters and ultra-high-frequency components required for the telecommunications and navigation sectors, pointing out the opening of Russia’s first production line for integrated photonic circuits in Moscow at the end of last year.
For his part, Manturov said the Russian government is preparing a mechanism that would enable manufacturers to secure guaranteed orders for initial batches of new electronic products after completing research and development, thereby helping companies transition to mass production. He emphasized that developing Russian electronics production requires sustained demand for local products, noting that nearly 140 Russian companies are showcasing equipment, materials, electronic components, and software at the exhibition accompanying the forum.
The forum includes a specialized scientific conference, a business program, and a technology exhibition in the field of microelectronics, alongside scientific and training activities. It will run until October 3, with the scientific conference, business program, and exhibition taking place at Sirius University from September 28 to October 2.
According to the forum’s official website, more than 2,500 people and nearly 1,000 companies are participating in the forum, while the exhibition features more than 160 exhibiting entities.
The Microelectronics Forum, first held in 2015, is a specialized Russian platform that brings together government, industry, and scientific sector representatives to discuss the development of the microelectronics industry, the electronic components base, increased production capacity, and enhanced cooperation between research institutions and companies.
