Cairo, September 28 (KUNA) – Arab Parliament Speaker Mohammed Al-Yamah warned today, Monday, of the danger of incitement by Israeli occupation officials to replicate what occurred in the Gaza Strip in the West Bank and to dismantle the Palestinian Authority. In a statement, Al-Yamah condemned the continued incursions into the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound, attempts to introduce prayer books and Jewish religious rituals into it, and the tightening of restrictions and closures on Palestinians in the West Bank, describing these actions as a systematic escalation and a blatant violation of the historical and legal status quo at the holy sites and of the Palestinian people’s rights. He also condemned the inflammatory remarks by Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, who called for launching a war on the West Bank, repeating what happened in Gaza, and dismantling the Palestinian Authority. Al-Yamah stressed that these statements constitute an explicit call to expand the scope of aggression and destruction and pose a direct threat to destabilizing the situation in the West Bank. He further warned that turning the West Bank into another version of Gaza would have catastrophic repercussions for the Palestinian people and the entire region, calling for urgent and resolute international action before the situation spirals out of control. He urged the international community and the Security Council to assume their responsibilities, compel the Israeli occupation to halt violations and escalation, protect the Palestinian people and their holy sites, and hold accountable those responsible for incitement and attacks, emphasizing that international silence encourages the continuation of these policies and undermines prospects for achieving peace and stability in the region.
