EU imposes sanctions on individuals and entities over 'deportation of Ukrainian children to Russia'

Brussels, September 28 (KUNA) -- The European Union announced on Monday the imposition of sanctions on 10 individuals and 17 entities for their “responsibility for the illegal deportation and forcible transfer of Ukrainian children to Russia and to temporarily occupied Ukrainian territories, as well as subjecting them to policies of forced assimilation, indoctrination, and military-style education.” In a statement, the EU Council said the new list includes persons and entities “responsible for acts that undermine or threaten the territorial integrity, sovereignty, and independence of Ukraine.” It clarified that the listed individuals and entities would be subject to asset freezes, and EU citizens and companies would be prohibited from making funds, financial assets, or economic resources available to them. The natural persons listed would also face travel bans, preventing them from entering or transiting through EU territory.
