Kuwait City, 28 September (KUNA) — The Sabah Al-Ahmad Center for Talent and Creativity, one of the centers under the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS), in collaboration with CODED Academy, concluded the program “AI: From Idea to Application – AI for Programming.” The three-week intensive training program, which focused on programming, artificial intelligence, and digital technologies, was attended by 30 Kuwaiti youth.

In a press statement on Monday, the center said the closing ceremony featured presentations of the projects developed by participants during the program. These projects focused on leveraging artificial intelligence and programming technologies to develop digital solutions addressing various daily challenges and needs. The event also honored participants and announced the winning projects in the final stage.

The center added that the program equipped participants with practical skills in programming and app development, alongside the application of AI, generative AI, data analytics, cybersecurity, and automation. This enabled them to transition from the idea development stage to building practical digital projects and applications.

During the final stage, participants refined their ideas and transformed them into technical projects before presenting them to a panel comprising representatives from the Sabah Al-Ahmad Center for Talent and Creativity and experts from the sector. The top ten projects were selected to participate in the Demo Day event.

The competition results saw the team “Nema” take first place. The team consisted of Hussein Al-Wazan, Hussein Saad, Othman Jamal, and Mubarak Al-Safran. Their project, “Nema,” is a digital platform designed to transform traditional refrigerators into smart systems that help monitor food products and their expiration dates. The platform allows users to register products by scanning barcodes, displaying them in the system, and specifying or estimating expiration dates when specific dates are unavailable.

The project also includes a system that alerts users when product expiration dates are approaching, suggests recipes to utilize food before it spoils, offers a feature to donate unused products, and incorporates a gamified points system to encourage food utilization and reduce waste.

The team “Jar’a” secured second place, comprising Ali Al-Bushra, Hamad Al-Masri, Wadha Al-Falah, and Mohammed Al-Jarri. Their project, “Jar’a,” is a digital system for managing medications, recording doses, and tracking them. It leverages AI through intelligent agents to help organize dosage plans, analyze medication-related information, and alert users to potential drug interactions, aiming to reduce human error and improve medication monitoring.

KuwaitSat-1 Mission Hub team took third place, consisting of Hind Al-Fadli, Dana Al-Ansari, Mariam Madouh, and Rutayj Al-Kandari. Their project involves developing a website aimed at supporting scientific research by utilizing visual data provided by the KuwaitSat-1 satellite. This enables the use of such data to support studies and scientific research and to develop data-driven applications.

The program provided participants with the opportunity to obtain four international certifications in artificial intelligence, generative AI, cybersecurity, and security and compliance from global technology firms, including Anthropic, Google Cloud, Microsoft, and Cisco. The program covered examination fees and provided certification vouchers.

The Sabah Al-Ahmad Center for Talent and Creativity noted that the top three teams received free training slots in one of the general training camps offered by CODED Academy, in recognition of their projects and outputs during the program.

The center emphasized that organizing the “AI: From Idea to Application” program aligns with its efforts to support Kuwaiti talent, enhance youth capabilities in scientific and technological fields, and provide practical training programs that help them acquire modern skills and apply them to develop technological solutions and projects.
