Qatar Condemns Continued Settler Incursions into Al-Aqsa Mosque

Doha, September 27 (KUNA) — Qatar condemned the continued incursions by settlers into the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound, the latest of which took place today under the protection of Israeli occupation forces, calling them a blatant violation of international law and international humanitarian law, and an unacceptable provocation of the feelings of millions of Muslims worldwide. In a statement issued on Sunday, Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound is exclusively a place of worship for Muslims, and that all unilateral measures aimed at altering the historical and legal status quo in Jerusalem and its holy sites are null and void under international law. The ministry warned that the continuation of these violations and repeated provocations would fuel cycles of violence and escalation in the region and undermine prospects for de-escalation and stability. It renewed its call on the international community to take urgent action to compel the Israeli occupation to halt its ongoing violations against the Palestinian people and their holy sites, and to comply with relevant resolutions of international legitimacy. The ministry reaffirmed Qatar’s steadfast position supporting the Palestinian cause and the resilience of the fraternal Palestinian people, based on ending the occupation and enabling the Palestinian people to attain their legitimate rights, foremost among them the establishment of an independent state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
