Kuwait City, Sept 27 (KUNA) -- The KUNA Media Capacity Development Center launched on Sunday the training program “Podcasting, Voiceover, and Dubbing Skills,” with participation from staff members of the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) and the Direct Investment Promotion Authority. The program, which runs until October 1 and is delivered by media personality Dr. Bassam Al-Jazzaf, aims to enhance trainees’ skills in podcasting, voiceover, and dubbing, and to familiarize them with the scientific and artistic foundations of sound and the mechanisms for its professional use in producing media and audio content.
The program covers several topics related to the basics of sound, its theories, and its sources, as well as diagnosing and addressing vocal issues. It also includes practical exercises on breathing, vocal warm-ups, measuring maximum speaking time, and developing tone, pauses, speed, and rhythm, thereby strengthening trainees’ ability to control their voices and improve their performance.
Relying on both theoretical and practical approaches, the program also addresses the preparation and production of podcasts across their various stages, from concept development, identity, and scripting, to recording, editing, publishing, and archiving. It further covers analyzing the target audience, building an auditory identity, designing music, establishing corporate tone guidelines, and utilizing the audio formats employed by the agency.
The curriculum includes specialized training on recording environments, technical standards, room selection, microphones, pickup patterns, digital recording standards, sound levels, and noise management. It also develops skills in writing for the ear, rephrasing sentences for listening comprehension, handling foreign titles, names, and terms, and reading and pronouncing news accurately.
Additionally, the program focuses on dubbing and voice acting by exploring types of temporal, motor, and lip-sync synchronization, character performance skills, and techniques for varying rhythm, breath, and pitch. It outlines the steps for script execution and the production pipeline, highlighting the role of voice acting in character development.
Established in December 1995, the KUNA Media Capacity Development Center is among the leading media training institutions. It has delivered hundreds of training programs across various media fields, with the aim of developing the personal capabilities and potential of media professionals and elevating the standards of professional media practice.
