French Foreign Minister Discusses with His Ambassadors Ensuring Energy Supplies and Diversifying Sources

Paris, September 26 (KUNA) -- French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot held a video conference today with French ambassadors to countries that are strategic to France’s energy supply, discussing the latest developments in efforts to secure fuel supplies. The French Foreign Ministry said in a statement that the meeting allowed for an exchange of analyses by the diplomatic network regarding supply conditions and opportunities for diversification in the event that the crisis persists. The statement added that the meeting discussed measures being implemented by the French diplomatic network to address all products affected by the current price crisis, including crude oil, liquefied natural gas (LNG), and refined products. It clarified that, as confirmed by French President Emmanuel Macron in his televised address on September 24, France has sufficient fuel reserves to last until the end of the year, and that French gas stocks are expected to soon reach 80 percent capacity, which is the target set at the European level. The statement noted that the French minister asked the ambassadors to continue their contacts with local authorities and sector stakeholders in order to obtain up-to-date information and facilitate communication with trading partners when necessary.
