Arab League Secretary-General reaffirms League's rejection of changing the geographical and demographic reality of Jerusalem

Cairo, Sept. 26 (KUNA) – The Secretary-General of the Arab League, Nabil Fahmy, reiterated his categorical rejection of any attempts to alter the geographical and demographic reality in the occupied Palestinian territories, condemning the Israeli occupation’s practices aimed at changing the identity of the city of Jerusalem and its legal and historical status.

Fahmy made these remarks in a speech delivered during the joint ministerial meeting between the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation on Jerusalem, held on the sidelines of the High-Level Segment of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, according to a statement issued by the Arab League on Saturday.

He referred to the statement issued by the Arab League Council at the ministerial level during its session held at the beginning of September regarding the situation in the occupied Arab territories, calling on the UN Security Council and the international community to move beyond condemnation to taking action and assuming responsibility for protecting Jerusalem and its holy sites.

He demanded that the occupying Israeli entity be compelled to halt all settlement and expansion activities, forced displacement, land theft and confiscation, and condemned Israel’s provocative practices.

He warned of the dangerous repercussions of the continuation of these policies and the disregard for Islamic and Christian holy sites on security and stability in the region.
