First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior to Head Kuwait Delegation at the UN Crime and Justice Congress (Abu Dhabi 2026)
Abu Dhabi, 26 Sep (KUNA) -- Sheikh Fahad Yusuf Saud Al-Sabah, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior of Kuwait, chaired the Kuwaiti delegation participating in the 15th United Nations Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice, which opened on Saturday in the UAE capital, Abu Dhabi, with the participation of representatives from several countries, international organizations, experts, and specialists.
In a statement received by the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), Minister Al-Yousef affirmed that Kuwait’s participation in the conference (Abu Dhabi 2026) reflects its commitment to an active presence in international forums concerned with security and criminal justice, supporting joint efforts, and enhancing cooperation and coordination among states to address security challenges, combat crime, and promote security and stability.
He extended his thanks and appreciation to the Government of the United Arab Emirates and its President, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, for hosting the conference, its excellent organization, and its generous hospitality.
The Ministry of Interior stated in its statement that the conference will examine a number of security and judicial issues and challenges, foremost among them combating organized crime and terrorism, strengthening criminal justice systems and the rule of law, developing crime prevention strategies, and the responsible utilization of modern technologies.
It clarified that the conference’s proceedings will also address ways to enhance international cooperation and partnerships, and the exchange of expertise and practices, contributing to the development of capabilities to counter evolving crime patterns and improve access to justice amid accelerating digital transformations.
The Ministry noted that Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef held a meeting on the sidelines of the conference’s opening with Syrian Minister of Interior, Engineer Anas Khattab, and his accompanying delegation. He also held another meeting with Malaysian Minister of Interior, Datuk Seri Syed Danial Syed Hamid, and his accompanying delegation.
It was mentioned that the two meetings focused on exploring ways to enhance security cooperation, exchange expertise, and coordinate in areas of mutual interest.
The Ministry indicated that the Kuwaiti delegation, headed by Al-Yousef, includes Undersecretary of Justice Awatif Al-Sand, Kuwaiti Ambassador to the UAE Jamal Al-Ghanim, Head of the Financial Investigations Unit Dr. Hamad Al-Mukrad, Director of Criminal Security Affairs Colonel Fahad Al-Bader, and a number of officials and specialists.
