12 Pakistanis killed and 35 others injured in suicide bombing in northern Pakistan

Islamabad, Sept 26 (KUNA) -- A Pakistani security official announced on Saturday that 12 civilians were killed and more than 35 others injured in a suicide bombing targeting a security checkpoint in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in northern Pakistan.

Ghulam Mubashir, a police official from the Dera Ismail Khan district, told the media that “12 civilians were killed and 35 others injured when a vehicle loaded with explosives rammed into the Aman Meena police checkpoint in the area.”

He confirmed that the deceased included nine men, two women, and a minor, and noted that none of the security personnel were among the casualties. He added that the bombing was carried out by a suicide attacker and destroyed a large part of the checkpoint and an adjacent house.

The suicide attack comes amid a rise in terrorist attacks in Pakistan, particularly in the provinces of Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, which border Afghanistan. (End) S.B.K / A.M.S
