Aden, Sept 25 (KUNA) -- Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council Chairman Rashad al-Alimi called on Yemenis today, Friday, to mobilize for a general mobilization and national call to arms, and to join the armed forces and security agencies through official channels in the face of the Houthi militia, in defense of the republic and national institutions. This came in a speech by al-Alimi broadcast by state media on the eve of the 64th anniversary of the September 26 Revolution. Al-Alimi announced the opening of the door to a safe return to the ranks of the republic and constitutional legitimacy, based on the state’s responsibility to stop the bleeding of Yemenis, end the war, and prevent acts of revenge and retribution. He said that anyone who, starting from this Friday, chooses to leave the Houthi militias, ceases fighting on their behalf, or works in their interest, will be covered by a general amnesty to be issued later in accordance with constitutional and legal procedures. He added that the state is committed to resolving the status of members of the army and security forces in a manner that preserves their legally acquired employment rights. He clarified that the Houthi militias have chosen the logic of force and weapons, and that their attacks and serious violations represent a dangerous escalation that places the state’s leadership under its constitutional and moral responsibility to deter the threat and protect civilians. He warned that the Houthi threat does not stop at targeting Yemen’s interior; rather, the Houthi project aims to turn Yemen’s land and coastlines into a continuous source of threat to the security of Yemen and the entire region. He said the goal is clear: to restore state institutions and extend the state’s sovereignty over its entire national territory, reaching as far as Sanaa. (End) S.N.S.
