Arab League condemns Houthi militia's ballistic missile attack on Saudi Arabia

Cairo, 25 Sep (KUNA) – The Arab League condemned on Friday the Houthi militia’s launch of ballistic missiles towards several cities and areas in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

In a statement, the Arab League said that the repeated Houthi attacks on Saudi territory constitute a highly dangerous escalation and a direct threat to the Kingdom’s security and stability. It affirmed its solidarity with Saudi Arabia and its support for the measures it deems necessary to protect its security, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, in accordance with the UN Charter and the principles of international law.

The League stressed that the continued Houthi escalation in the region undermines the prospects for reaching a political solution to the Yemeni crisis and hinders the creation of favorable conditions for resuming the political track.

It reiterated its support for regional and international efforts aimed at achieving a comprehensive political solution to the Yemeni crisis, based on the agreed-upon references and the relevant UN Security Council resolutions, foremost among them Resolution 2216, in order to safeguard Yemen’s unity, sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity.
