Jeddah, 25 Sep (KUNA) -- Iraq national team coach Graham Arnold expressed his hope on Friday that his team would defeat Kuwait in their upcoming match within the framework of the Gulf Arab Cup (Gulf Cup 27), which he described as an important opportunity to trial new players and prepare them for future competitions.

In a press conference ahead of Saturday's match against the Kuwaiti national team in the tournament, Arnold stated that the competition provides a chance to test new players for the future. He noted that half of the squad had participated in the previous World Cup, while the other half consists of new players who need the opportunity.

He mentioned that he has been following the Kuwaiti national team's performance, noting that they have young players. He emphasized that involving young players is important for every national team and expressed his confidence that the players would give their best effort to secure a victory.

For his part, Iraqi national team player Amer Al-Amari highlighted the difficulty of the upcoming match against Kuwait, stating that the players would do their utmost to achieve a positive result.

He added that he had watched the Kuwaiti national team's match, describing them as a "developing team," and stressed that the Iraqi national team would give everything they have in the next match.

It is worth noting that the Kuwaiti national team lost its first match against Saudi Arabia 1-0, while the Iraqi national team drew 1-1 with Oman.
