Foreign Minister: The Palestinian issue no longer needs more diagnosis, but rather the will and implementation

New York, September 24 (KUNA) -- Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Jaraah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah affirmed that the Palestinian cause no longer requires further diagnosis, but rather the will and implementation to act. He noted that international legitimacy resolutions and the New York Declaration have established a clear framework for ending the occupation and realizing an independent State of Palestine, thereby necessitating the translation of international will into concrete steps.

This statement was made by Sheikh Jaraah during his participation today, Thursday, in the high-level ministerial meeting of the International Coalition for Implementing the Two-State Solution, organized by the friendly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the friendly Kingdom of Norway, and the European Union. The event took place at United Nations headquarters in New York on the sidelines of the high-level week of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly.

He stressed that justice cannot be selective, and that the continuation of the occupation, settlement activities, and attempts to alter the geographic and demographic reality undermine the two-state solution and put the credibility of the international system to a genuine test. He pointed to the necessity of transitioning from managing the conflict to ending it, and realizing an independent, sovereign State of Palestine on the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative. He also called for supporting Palestine’s full membership in the United Nations.

He emphasized the importance of implementing Security Council Resolution 2803 and supporting reconstruction efforts in the Gaza Strip, which would pave a reliable path toward self-determination and the establishment of an independent State of Palestine.

He reiterated Kuwait’s historic and steadfast position regarding the Palestinian cause and its support for the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people, foremost among which is their right to self-determination and the establishment of their independent state on the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
