Saudi Foreign Minister Warns of Erosion of Two-State Solution, Urges Immediate Action

New York, September 24 (KUNA) -- Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan warned today, Thursday, that the two-state solution is fading from reality amid the ongoing humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip and escalating violence and violations in the West Bank, including Jerusalem. He called for urgent action to preserve the prospects of achieving it.

Prince Faisal made these remarks to journalists following a ministerial meeting of the International Coalition for Supporting the Implementation of the Two-State Solution, convened by Saudi Arabia, Norway, and the European Union in coordination with France at the United Nations headquarters on the sidelines of the high-level week of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly.

Prince Faisal bin Farhan stated that “the choice before us is clear: either preserve the two-state solution or watch it fade on the ground.” He added that “the window is narrowing but has not yet closed, so we must act now.”

He emphasized the urgency of action in light of the deteriorating situation in the occupied Palestinian territories, warning that developments on the ground are undermining the prospects of establishing a viable and sustainable State of Palestine.

He clarified that the coalition’s priorities include strengthening the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, ensuring the unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid, and advancing reconstruction efforts in line with US President Donald Trump’s comprehensive peace plan and UN Security Council Resolution 2803.

The Saudi Foreign Minister added that the priorities also include supporting the Palestinian Authority and its return to the Gaza Strip, halting settlement activities, annexation, displacement, and settler violence. (End) A.S.T. / M.M.J.
