Istanbul, September 24 (KUNA) -- A magnitude 5.4 earthquake struck southeastern Turkey on Thursday. The Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD) stated that the epicenter was in the province of Şanlıurfa, with tremors clearly felt in neighboring provinces, including Diyarbakır, Gaziantep, and Malatya. It noted that the quake’s intensity sparked concern among residents, particularly in areas still recalling the aftermath of the February 2023 earthquakes. The tremor occurred in a seismically active region of Turkey situated along major tectonic plates, including the East Anatolian and North Anatolian fault lines. (End)
