Foreign Minister: Education is a fundamental pillar for achieving sustainable development and building communities capable of facing the challenges of the future
New York, 23 Sep (KUNA) -- Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Jeraf Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah affirmed on Wednesday that Kuwait believes education is a fundamental pillar for achieving sustainable development, investing in human capital, and building communities capable of facing future challenges.
He made these remarks in a speech delivered during the high-level event titled "Doubling Down: A New Era for Education Financing," organized by the governments of the Italian Republic and the Federal Republic of Nigeria in cooperation with the Global Partnership for Education. The event was held at the United Nations headquarters in New York on the sidelines of the High-Level Week of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.
Sheikh Jeraf highlighted Kuwait’s commitment to continuously developing its education system, enhancing the quality of education, leveraging digital transformation and modern technologies, and fostering youth skills to meet the demands of the future and the labor market.
He reaffirmed Kuwait’s commitment to supporting efforts aimed at expanding access to education, particularly in developing countries and the most vulnerable communities, driven by the belief that investing in education is an investment in development, stability, and shared prosperity.
In this context, he noted that Kuwait, through its national and development institutions, foremost among them the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development), continues to support projects and programs in sister and friendly countries, including those related to education and human capacity development, in addition to supporting educational programs undertaken by international organizations.
He stressed the importance of protecting education during times of crisis and ensuring sustainable and adequate funding to guarantee the continuity of the educational process and safeguard the right of children and youth to build a better future.
He reaffirmed Kuwait’s support for international efforts aimed at achieving Sustainable Development Goal 4, emphasizing the importance of strengthening international partnerships, mobilizing resources, and exchanging expertise to contribute to building more inclusive, higher-quality, and resilient education systems that ensure no one is left behind.
