Aden, September 23 (KUNA) – The Yemeni Ministry of Defense confirmed on Wednesday that the Yemeni Armed Forces are engaged in fierce battles against Houthi militias across various fronts in Taiz province in southwestern Yemen, with direct support from the air force. The media center of the Yemeni Armed Forces, affiliated with the Ministry of Defense, quoted a military source as saying that army forces clashed on most combat fronts along the Taiz axis during the past 24 hours, employing various types of weapons. The center added that the clashes were concentrated on the fronts of Al-Ahtoub, Al-Kadha, and Ad-Dabab to the west, and As-Salou and the eastern front of the city to the east, inflicting heavy casualties and material losses on the Houthi militias. It clarified that the Yemeni Armed Forces thwarted attempts by Houthi militias to use drones to target military positions. The center noted that the Yemeni Armed Forces air force launched two strikes on Wednesday evening on Houthi militia gatherings and weapons depots in the Al-Barah area west of Taiz, and that the air force targeted meetings of Houthi leaders in the coastal district of Al-Wazie’a on the Red Sea. The air force also carried out strikes targeting positions, gatherings, and vehicles of the terrorist Houthi militias south of Ma’rib province, confirming that the militias suffered significant human and material losses due to aerial bombardment and ongoing battles across the operational theater. In the same context, the Yemeni Armed Forces media center released footage documenting drone strikes by government Emergency Forces units on Houthi militia fortifications on the eastern fronts of Al-Hazm, the capital of Al-Jawf province in northern Yemen. Yemeni military media in the Fourth Military Zone also documented strikes on Houthi militia weapons, vehicles, and snipers at the Kehbob front overlooking the Bab al-Mandab Strait in southwestern Yemen.
