Libyan-U.S. talks on efforts to advance the political track and enhance security and stability in Libya

Tunis, Sept 23 (KUNA) -- Taher al-Ba'our, the official tasked with managing the affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Libyan Government of National Unity, discussed with Massad Boulos, Senior Advisor to the U.S. President for Arab and African Affairs, on Wednesday the latest developments in Libya's political process, including efforts to advance the political track and enhance security and stability.

The Libyan Foreign Ministry stated in a statement that the meeting took place on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, during which both sides emphasized the importance of unifying Libya's state institutions and supporting efforts aimed at reaching a comprehensive and sustainable political settlement that meets the aspirations of the Libyan people.

The statement added that the two sides also discussed ways to strengthen Libyan-American relations and expand the horizons of bilateral cooperation, particularly in economic and development fields, encouraging investment, and enhancing cooperation in the energy sector to serve the common interests of both countries.

The two sides also exchanged views on a number of regional and international issues of mutual concern, affirming the importance of continued consultation and coordination between Libya and the United States, and supporting efforts aimed at achieving security and stability in Libya and the region.
