Malaysia to raise Palestine and Middle East tensions during its meetings at the 81st session of the UN General Assembly in New York

Kuala Lumpur, Sept 23 (KUNA) – Malaysia announced on Wednesday that the Palestinian issue and geopolitical tensions in the Middle East are among the top files it intends to raise during the participation of Malaysian Foreign Minister Mohamad Hasan in the proceedings of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, currently underway in New York.

In statements to Malaysian media representatives, Malaysia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Nazira Osman, said that Hasan will raise a number of key issues in Malaysia’s statement before the General Assembly, including the enhancement of multilateral action, defense of international law, the Palestinian issue, geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, and reform of the United Nations and the Security Council.

The Malaysian Foreign Minister began a working visit to New York today, lasting until September 27, leading his country’s delegation to the 81st session of the UN General Assembly. This is the third time he has led the Malaysian delegation to the General Assembly since assuming office in December 2023.

The 81st session of the UN General Assembly is held under the theme “Restoring Trust and Managing Transformation – United Nations Achieving Results for All,” with the general debate running from September 22 to 28. (End) EAB/MX
