Kuwait - 23 - 9 (KUNA) - September 23, 1976 - Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah issues Law No. 67 of 1976, stipulating that no vehicle may be driven on the road unless it has obtained a license and been assigned a number by the General Directorate of Traffic, and the driver holds a valid driving license.

1990 - During its occupation of Kuwait, the Iraqi regime authorities announce the withdrawal of the Kuwaiti dinar in all its paper denominations and metal coins, compensating holders at face value in Iraqi dinars at a rate of one Iraqi dinar for every Kuwaiti dinar.

2002 - Kuwait assumes the presidency of the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) for the 2002-2003 period, representing the Middle East and South Asia group. The Board of Governors is the agency’s highest executive body following the General Conference.

2005 - Player Muhammad Al-Gharib achieves a historic sporting milestone for Kuwaiti tennis by winning the gold medal, the first in Gulf history, in the singles competition of the 15th Arab Men’s Championship held in Jordan.

2020 - The Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research announces that it has received a patent from the United States Patent and Trademark Office for a technology to measure the impact of dust and other pollutants on the performance of solar cells.

2025 - The Ministry of Health announces the success of a Kuwaiti surgical team in performing a robotic (remote) surgery, with the distance between the surgical team and the patient exceeding 12,000 kilometers, a world first. This places the State of Kuwait in the record books of global medical leadership. The procedure was performed using an Edge Robotics device at Jaber Al-Ahmad Hospital, while the patient, in his thirties, was admitted at Hospital Cruz Vermelha in Curitiba, Brazil.

2025 - The Council of Ministers approves a draft law repealing Law No. 115 of 2014 concerning the establishment of the Public Authority for Roads and Land Transport, and refers it to His Highness the Emir.
