Deputy Foreign Minister for Gulf Cooperation Council Affairs Emphasizes the Importance of Strengthening Gulf Partnerships with France and Switzerland

New York, September 22 (KUNA) -- Kuwait’s Assistant Foreign Minister for Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Affairs, Ambassador Hamad Al-Mari, stressed on Tuesday the importance of strengthening the strategic Gulf-French partnership and expanding cooperation between the two sides, reflecting the deep historical ties between the GCC states and France.

In a statement to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), Ambassador Al-Mari noted that these remarks were made during his participation in the joint ministerial meeting between the GCC and France, held on Monday on the sidelines of the high-level week of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

He highlighted the importance of elevating the Gulf-French partnership to broader horizons, recalling the first summit between GCC leaders and the French President, which took place in Riyadh in 2015.

Ambassador Al-Mari added that the meeting involved exchanging views on regional and international developments.

In a related context, Ambassador Al-Mari praised the memorandum of understanding for establishing a strategic dialogue between the GCC and the Swiss Confederation, which was signed last January, emphasizing its significance in laying the foundation for the Gulf-Swiss partnership and enhancing cooperation opportunities between the two sides.

He clarified that this occurred during his participation in the first joint ministerial meeting between the GCC and the Swiss Confederation, held on Monday in New York on the sidelines of the high-level week.
