Head of the Arab Agricultural Engineers Association: Launch of the "Agricultural Recipe" initiative in Lebanon is a "pivotal step" in developing agricultural extension

Beirut, 22 Sep (KUNA) -- Abbas Abdul-Razzaq, President of the Arab Union of Agricultural Engineers and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Kuwaiti Society of Agricultural Engineers, stated on Tuesday that the launch of the "Agricultural Prescription" initiative in Lebanon represents a pivotal and qualitative step towards developing agricultural extension services and enhancing the role of agricultural engineers in supporting farmers and achieving safe and sustainable production.

Abdul-Razzaq made these remarks in a speech delivered via video conference from Kuwait during the launch ceremony for the Beirut branch of the Agricultural Engineers Association, held in cooperation with the Lebanese Ministry of Agriculture and under the patronage of Agriculture Minister Dr. Nizar Hani. The event saw the launch of three national initiatives in agricultural engineering in Lebanon.

He emphasized that addressing the challenges of Arab food security, particularly water scarcity, climate change, and rising production costs, requires investment in knowledge and modern technologies, while praising Lebanon's agricultural experience.

Abdul-Razzaq affirmed the Arab Union of Agricultural Engineers' readiness to support such initiatives and facilitate the exchange of expertise among Arab countries to build an integrated Arab system for agricultural decision-making and digital transformation.

The initiatives launched during the ceremony included the "National Program for Training on the Rational Use of Pesticides and Agricultural Prescriptions," the "Digital Agricultural Prescription System," and the "Digital Platform for Agricultural Engineers." These were launched concurrently with a regional discussion forum on crop protection policies and a technical session on crop diagnosis and agricultural prescriptions.

Attending the event were Ali Abu Nuqta, Secretary-General of the Arab Union of Agricultural Engineers; Mustafa Al-Mustafa, President of the Syndicate of Agricultural Engineers in Syria; along with a number of experts, officials, and representatives from official bodies, who discussed the role of Arab syndicates and ministries in strengthening food security.
